Darbi Rumpel had her dream come true.

On Thursday, April 1, students and staff at Foremost School gathered for the culmination of an idea Rumpel had a couple of months ago.

With students loudly chanting her name, Rumpel had all of her hair cut off on the stage in the Foremost school gym

As of Monday, April 12, Darbi's Dream had raised $7,852.50 for Cerebral Palsy Alberta.

The 16-year-old Rumpel has cerebral palsy and wanted to help others with the same obstacles she faces.

The money was raised with an awe-inspiring amount of help and support from the Foremost school staff, students and community.

The day began with a barbecue and bake sale, which both raised money for Darbi's Dream. Afterwards, inspirational speaker Cory Johnson addressed the hundreds of people in attendance. Johnson, who has cerebral palsy, provided a humorous and poignant viewpoint of being a leader and overcoming obstacles in life.

Then, a band consisting of both students and staff played music in the gym while about 20 people stepped up to the stage and had their locks sheared, including Foremost Principal Ken Myers.

The highlight of the day, however, was when Rumpel herself took to the stage. The last one to have her hair cut, the noise inside the gym was deafening as the volunteer barbers shaved off her hair.

And with that, the money kept pouring in. More than a week later and the tally continues to grow.
